Common Types of Groups in an Organization

When creating groups, you can organize them based on departments, management levels, or projects. This helps clarify the purpose of each group and enhances collaboration across the organization.

Here are 7 common types of groups:

1. Official Groups

Created based on the company’s formal organizational structure and linked to departments.
An official group is marked with a special “V” badge after the group name.

2. Cross-Department Groups

Created for close collaboration between two departments.
For example: "Sales & Marketing Collaboration"

3. Management Groups

Formed based on different levels of management.
For example: "Sales Managers Group"

4. Product Feedback Groups

Designed to gather product feedback.
For example: "Product Suggestions"

5. Learning & Interest Groups

Created for internal learning or interest-based activities.
For example: "Hackathon Team", "Badminton Club"

6. Service Groups

Formed by members who provide internal services within the organization.
For example: "Admin & Finance Support"

7. External Collaboration Groups
